Here's a fun idea that will have all the kids on your family's gift list eager to wash up before dinner -- hand soaps that resemble marine animals submerged in a pool of water.
| Prep Time: About 1 to 2 hours | |
| What you need: | |
| Assorted small plastic marine animals (sold in many
department and dollar stores)
Flexible silicone muffin pan Microwavable clear glycerin soap and soap fragrance (optional; we used Life of the Party brand, sold at many large craft stores) | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: plastic bags, soaps | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Place 1 marine animal in each cup of a flexible silicone muffin pan. |
| 2. | Following the package directions, melt a chunk of the soap in a microwave-safe container in your microwave and then add fragrance, if you are using it. Stir the soap to blend any solid bits. |
| 3. | Pour the melted soap into the muffin pan cups, covering the creatures as much or as little as desired. For a fun effect, we left parts of the creatures exposed so that they appeared to be emerging from the "water." |
| 4. | Set aside the pan until the soaps solidify (about 1 hour). Then pop them out of their molds. For an attractive presentation, place 2 or 3 soaps in an inexpensive soap dish and wrap the ensemble in clear cellophane tied with a ribbon. |
