| Prep Time: About 1 hour | |
| What you need: | |
| 5 pipe cleaners: 2 skin-colored and 3 iridescent
Ruler Scissors About 8 feet of bulky-weight hair-colored yarn (we used Lion Brand Homespun slightly unraveled) 3 to 4 jumbo cotton balls, unrolled About 8 feet of skin-colored worsted-weight yarn About 20 feet of fuzzy, superbulky-weight white yarn for the robe (we used Divine by Patons) 5-mm sequin for eyes Tacky glue | |
| Seasons: Christmas | |
| Materials: pipe cleaners | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Follow the first 4 steps of the
directions for making people. |
| 2. | Then separate the legs to form an A shape and bend the tip
of each into a foot. Wrap cotton around the head and body, making
it thicker at the wrists to create flared sleeves and filling out
the A shape at the bottom of the robe. |
| 3. | Maintaining the A shape and flared sleeves, wrap the yarn
for the head and robe according to the people directions (but
keep the head stem up). Slip one end of an iridescent pipe
cleaner through the stem loop and twist it back on itself. Fold
down the stem and follow the steps for the female hairstyle,
covering the stem. |
| 4. | Form the pipe cleaner into a halo. Trim the end and twist
it back on itself to secure. Save the excess pipe cleaner. |
| 5. | Use 1 iridescent pipe cleaner to shape each wing, leaving
about 1 inch at the bottom and twisting each loop in place to
secure. |
| 6. | Twist together the 1-inch ends to join the left and right
wings. Fold the ends into an upside-down U to create a hook. Use
the pipe cleaner left over from the halo to create a belt,
twisting the ends around the angel's waist and the wings to hold
the wings in place. Use a dab of glue to secure the wings to the
back if needed. To make eyes, cut the sequin in half and glue in
place. Hang the angel from the paper clip on the stable
roof. |
