Make a jumbo egg with a hidden stash of goodies inside.
| Prep Time: Weekend Project | |
| What you need: | |
| 4-inch balloon
Assorted trinkets Tape Strong cord or dental floss 1 cup of all-purpose flour 1 1/4 cups of water Newspaper cut into 5-inch strips Pin Tempera paints and brushes | |
| Seasons: Easter | |
| Materials: balloons, food items, paints, paper, paper mache, string | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | |
| 2. | Mix together the flour and water to make a smooth paste. Individually dip newspaper strips into the paste, skim off the excess with your fingers, and lay the strips over the cord to cover the balloon. |
| 3. | Wrap the cord around the balloon a second time and cover with another layer of newspaper strips. Smooth the top layer with your fingers. Trim the untaped cord end so that it is 2 inches long, but do not paste it down. |
| 4. | Set the balloon on a wire rack until it is completely dry (about 24 hours). |
| 5. | Then push a pin through one end of the shell to pop the balloon. Finally, paint the egg and let it dry. (Note: Be sure to remove the deflated balloon as soon as your child cracks open the egg.) |
