If the damp weather is making your house feel like a rain forest, go with the flow and "grow" these tropical vines.
| Prep Time: Afternoon or Evening | |
| What you need: | |
| Construction paper
Scissors Glue Twine or yarn Glitter Markers Small scraps of felt | |
| Seasons: Rainy day, Year round | |
| Materials: fabric, markers, paper, yarn | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Cut out lots of matching pairs of construction paper leaves (a parent can cut and trace a leaf template, or kids can fold the paper sheets in half and cut out two leaf shapes at once). While you're at it, make a pile of matching pairs of paper flowers. |
| 2. | On a long table or the kitchen floor, set out all the pairs in a long line. |
| 3. | Flip over half of the flowers and leaves so that their "wrong" side is facing up, then spread glue on each one. |
| 4. | Cut a long length of twine or yarn and drape it over the middle of each glued flower or leaf. |
| 5. | Press down each matching flower or leaf on top of its glued mate (in short, you're making a yarn sandwich), until you have one long, connected line of double-sided flowers and leaves. |
| 6. | When dry, decorate the vine with glitter, markers and felt scraps, or with construction paper details such as petals and curlicue vine tendrils. |
