The new year will come up roses in this homemade flower party hat.

| 2 8 3/4-inch sturdy white paper plates
Scissors Yellow construction paper Stapler Glue Markers or paints, optional Streamers, optional | |

| Materials: markers, paints, paper | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Trim the bottom 2 1/2 inches from the plate. Cut out the center of the plate, leaving a 2-inch-wide brim for a headband (this fits most children's heads snugly). |
| 2. | Cut 12 to 14 flower petals, 2 by 4 1/2 inches each, from the yellow paper. Space them evenly around one headband, radiating outward, and staple them into place. Glue one band over the other with the petals sandwiched between the two. |
| 3. | Color or paint the hat yellow and decorate with streamers, if desired. |
