Carve a nonflammable -- yet spooky -- trick-or-treat lantern.

| What you need: | |
| Medium-sized, purple-topped turnip
Paring knife Spoon Flashlight | |
| Seasons: Halloween | |
| Materials: food items | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Slice off the very top of the turnip and hollow out the inside using a sharp paring knife and a spoon (parents only). |
| 2. | Carefully carve facial features in one side. |
| 3. | Cut a circle in the bottom of the turnip, to fit over the
end of the flashlight. Finally, turn on the flashlight to give
Jack a glow.
