Kids can give that special someone a bouquet and a card in one with one of these handpainted planters.

Prep Time: Under 1 hour
What you need:
 Clean, dry terra-cotta pot
Pencil
Cray-Pas oil pastels (available at art supply stores)
Acrylic paint and brushes, optional
Seasons: Mother's day, Year round
Materials: crayons, nature objects, paints

Instructions:
1.First sketch a design on the pot with a pencil, since the oil pastels are permanent. Then decorate with the pastels.
2.For a more colorful base, brush on a coat or two of acrylic paint first, let the paint dry overnight, then color on the pot.
3.As a crowning touch, add a flowering plant to the pot before presenting it to that special someone.

My kids really enjoyed decorating these flower pots! They love the fact that they get used year round and don't disappear after a few weeks like store bought cards.
