Kids are generally discouraged from applying food to their clothing, but this craft provides a chance to bend the rules.

Tips
Any produce that's not too juicy will work, so get creative. Onions make good circles; apples cut lengthwise look like butterflies; broccoli and mushrooms resemble trees; a cantaloupe wedge or pea pod makes a lovely smile.

Prep Time: Under 1 hour
What you need:
 Cardboard
Prewashed white cotton T-shirt
Masking tape
Pie plates
Nontoxic fabric paint
Knife
Fruits and/or vegetables
Paper towels
Newspaper
Seasons: Summer, Year round
Materials: fabric, food items, paints
Instructions:
1.Slip the cardboard inside the shirt, stretch the shirt tightly around it, and tape the sleeves and sides to the back.
2.Set out pie plates and pour a different color of paint into each. Cut open the fruits and veggies (a parents job) and use a paper towel to blot the produce.
3.Next, press the stamps into the paint. Do a test run on newspaper, showing kids how to press firmly without squeezing out any juice. When ready, move on to the shirts. Try patterns, landscapes, silly faces or abstract designs.
4.Follow the manufacturer's instructions for setting the paint.
