Add a touch of summer to a kid-sized table with this easy-to-create sun and sea motif.
Tips
We used 1 quart each of Sky Blue, Cerulean (dark blue),
Halloween Orange, School Bus Yellow, Red, and White semi-gloss
interior latex paint by Crayola.

| 1 quart water-based primer

| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Sand the table if necessary. Make sure it's clean, then use the 2-inch foam brush to coat it with primer. Let the primer dry. |
| 2. | For a sky-colored basecoat, use the 1 1/2-inch paintbrush to paint the tabletop light blue. Let dry. |
| 3. | Create the wave stencils for the table's border. First cut 4 strips of Con-Tact paper, each the length of a table side plus a few extra inches. Then trace around half of the 3-inch plastic lid repeatedly. Cut each strip along the drawn lines. The top piece is your stencil. |
| 4. | Stick down all 4 stencils a few inches in from the table?s edge and trim them where they overlap. Fill in the waves with dark blue, brushing from the stencil toward the edge of the table. Remove Con-Tact paper promptly and let the paint dry. |
| 5. | Set the table upside down on a clean area. Coat all the legs, plus the underside and outside edge, with the wave color. Let everything dry. |
| 6. | To create the sun centerpiece, place your plate or another round shape on the tabletop (be sure you have enough space for the triangular sun rays) and trace it in pencil. |
| 7. | Along the perimeter of the circle, make light pencil marks every 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Use these marks as guides for taping your triangular sun rays. Apply low-tack tape to define alternating rays. (The rays between those you just taped will be taped and painted in the next step.) Use the 1-inch brush to apply orange paint inside the tape. Brush inward to avoid painting under the tape. Don?t paint inside the center circle. Remove the tape carefully and let the paint dry. |
| 8. | Use more tape to define the rays between the ones you just painted. Apply orange paint as above. Remove the tape and let the paint dry. |
| 9. | Use the 1-inch brush to paint the circle yellow. Let it dry, then use the 1/2-inch detail brush to paint a freehand orange spiral onto the yellow center. You're done! |
| 10. | If desired, complete the look with a matching set of Catch-a-Wave Chairs . |
Variations
For extra sparkle, cover the dark blue areas on the table
with a coat of Crayola Glitter F/X Finish and let dry.
