Surely somewhere there are children who aren't enthralled by the oh-so-satisfying sounds of tap shoes -- we just haven't met them yet. And since quickly outgrown store-bought ones can get expensive, we've come up with this clever con-tap-tion, which allows you to easily turn any pair of shoes into tap shoes and then back again.
| Prep Time: Under 1 hour | |
| What you need: | |
| 1/2-inch-wide elastic
Metal washer (ours measures 1 1/4 inch across) | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: elastic, magazine pages | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | For each shoe, thread an 8-inch length of 1/2-inch-wide elastic through a large metal washer (ours measures 1 1/4 inches across) and knot the ends together. |
| 2. | Stretch the bands around your child's shoe, arranging the
washer so that it lies flat against the sole. (For safety, put
away the elastic when it's not in use.)
