Kids just seem to love hanging lots of things from the ceiling, but making lots of holes in the wallboard is a prospect no parent relishes. This homemade mobile offers the perfect compromise. Suspended from a single hook, it features nine dangling objects attached with pinch clips that make it a cinch to exchange items whenever the mood strikes.
| Prep Time: About 1 to 2 hours | |
| What you need: | |
| 1 5-inch-wide wooden embroidery hoop
1 10-inch-wide wooden embroidery hoop Acrylic paint and paintbrush (optional) Fishing line 9 plastic-coated pinch clips Assorted small toys | |
| Seasons: Year round | |
| Materials: embroidery hoops, fishing line | |
| Instructions: | |
| 1. | Separate the inner and outer circles of two embroidery hoops and paint them, if desired. |
| 2. | Once the paint dries, tie three 18-inch lengths of fishing line to the inner circle of the smaller hoop, spacing them equally apart. |
| 3. | Tie a pinch clip to the bottom of each length, then reattach the outer circle of the hoop. Similarly, attach six 2-foot lengths of fishing line and pinch clips to the larger hoop. |
| 4. | Next, tie the ends of two equal-length pieces of line to the smaller hoop so that the ends are evenly spaced apart. Gather the midpoints of both lines and hang the hoop from the ceiling. |
| 5. | With 10-inch lengths, hang the larger hoop from the smaller one so that the two are about 6 inches apart, and the clips hanging from the top one fall through the center of the bottom one. |
| 6. | Now help your child clip on toys, arranging them in a way that balances the weight. |
