Brighten up old plates with custom wallpaper and clay covers.

Prep Time: Under 1 hour
What you need:
 Light switch plate
Wallpaper scraps
Scissors
Pencil
Tacky glue
Fimo or Sculpey III
Baking sheet
Acrylic paint and brushes
Seasons: Year round
Materials: clay , paper
Instructions:
1.Place a switch plate facedown on a piece of wallpaper. Trace the openings with a pencil and draw a 3/4-inch border around the plate. Cut around the border and clip a 3/4-inch square from each corner.
2.Open the rectangular switch slot by cutting an "X" from corner to corner with scissors or a craft knife. The two screw openings can be poked with a sharp pencil. Attach the paper to the front of the plate with an even coat of tacky glue. Then fold the borders and the corner and switch slot flaps around to the underside of the plate.
3.To create a clay-covered plate, roll out a 1/8-inch-thick slab of Fimo or Sculpey III on a baking sheet. Using a toothpick or plastic knife, carve shapes out of the clay.
4.When the design is complete, bake the shapes on the sheet according to directions. Be sure that the shapes are lying flat when they are heated. When cool, this clay can be painted and attached to a switch plate with a generous coat of tacky glue.
