When weather gets colder we like to find ways to keep costs down as gas and electric prices seem to escalate. Using a higher quality product can help redirect your energy costs and allow you efficient luxurious home decor items, such as down comforters. A simple way of enjoying warmth and plush comfort along with great style!

Knowing what you are buying is crucial to getting the best down comforter for your specific climate and personal needs. Here is a quick reference guide to down comforters.

What is Down?
Down is simply the feathers of a duck ( the fluffy part that is found under the big feathers that keeps the duck warm)

Fill = The Quality of the Down
Fill is the density and size of the feathers found in the comforter. The higher the fill the number, the larger and stronger the clusters of down. Lower priced down comforters use smaller feathers which are more frail and breakdown easily. Larger feathers create more insulation and will last longer.

Thread Count
Thread count is the number of threads that are contained in one square inch of fabric. Higher thread count fabrics are woven with more density and with higher quality yarn. This is important as smaller thread count fabrics will more readily allow feathers to begin poking through.

Baffle Box
This will minimize migration from one part of the comforter to another. It also helps for maximum comfort and support
