WHO'S THAT GIRL?
Test your crowd's pop-culture IQ with this lively guessing game. Here's how it works: before the party, write the names of celebrities, such as actresses, athletes, and singers, on separate pieces of paper (come up with them on your own if you want them to be a surprise; if not, ask your birthday girl for her suggestions). At the party, have each guest pick a name out of a hat, then take a turn pretending to be that celebrity while the other guests ask yes or no questions -- such as "Are you a singer?" or "Have you ever starred in a movie?" -- to figure out which famous person she is. For extra fun, videotape the game for the girls to watch later.
SLEEPYTIME CINEMA
As the evening wanes, settle the kids down with a flick. Suggest they watch their favorite stars (themselves in the party video) or pick a movie that fits the celebrity theme. Three we like:
High School Musical: A basketball player and a class brain find stardom -- and each other -- on their high school stage. (rated G; Walt Disney Home Entertainment)
The Lizzie McGuire Movie: On a class trip to Rome, Lizzie has to stand in for her double -- a European singing star! (rated PG; Walt Disney Home Entertainment)
Singin' in the Rain: An unknown starlet gets her big break in a Hollywood musical. (rated G; Warner Home Video)
PJ FASHION SHOW Guests will never complain about putting on their pajamas if you turn it into a fashion show. For the last act of the evening, encourage the girls to gussy up their sleepwear with boas and baubles (available at craft stores), then show off their PJs on a pretend runway created with glow sticks or flashlights. Then it's time to don those Stylin' Sleep Masks for a glamorous night's sleep.
