In its second season, the smash TV hit Glee has continued to release albums containing songs from the show. GLEE: THE MUSIC, THE POWER OF MADONNA is the first compilation from that season, featuring seven tracks that span the decades-long career of pop queen Madonna. For the most part, the record steers clear of the singer's most mature songs and focuses instead on her more inspiring and lighthearted tunes, including "Express Yourself," "Borderline," "Vogue," and "Open Your Heart." That said, the track list still includes a few eyebrow-raisers: "Like a Virgin," "Like a Prayer," and "What It Feels Like for a Girl." Jonathan Groff, the actor who plays Lea Michele's love interest, provides guest vocals on three tracks.
Madonna may not have the strongest vocals in the world, but she's still become one of the biggest pop stars ever -- making it sound somewhat strange to hear her songs covered, even if it's by better singers. As a result, tunes like "Express Yourself" and "Like a Virgin" don't have quite the same impact as the originals, and newer songs, including "What It Feels Like for a Girl" and "4 Minutes," (Madonna's recent collaboration with Justin Timberlake) draw you in a bit more.
