What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this is a lighthearted, happy look
at middle school and family life. There's no questionable
content.
Families can talk about the importance of being honest with the
people you love. Sassy hated being called "Little Sister," but
never really expressed it to her family. What was her sister's
reaction when Sassy finally asked to be called by her given
name? Is there something your family or friends do that bugs
you? Have you ever told them? Why or why not?
Sassy Simone Sanford is the smallest in her class. She's the youngest in her family, and everyone calls her "Little Sister." She's got wild, unruly hair, and she has to wear a boring blue and white uniform to school every day. That's the bad news. The good news is that she has a super cool grandma, a big imagination, and her sparkly "Sassy Sack" that's filled to the brim with goodies and what-nots that are sure to get her out of any jam. Her family always finds themselves in an interesting and sometimes scary situation, but as long as they have each other they know they'll be OK.
