MY WORLD is the first extended release from tween pop idol and Usher protégé Justin Bieber. The record is an EP consisting of seven songs that are all about the things most tweens think about, including first love, first breakups, and going to the prom. The lyrics are so clean they practically sparkle, with no out-of-the-ordinary language or adult themes beyond the occasional kiss and close slow-dance. If anything, Bieber's only crime is that he naively idealizes romantic relationships to a somewhat nauseating extent. For instance: "You gotta believe in me, believe it like a fairy tale / Put your tooth under your pillow case / And know I won't ever, ever let you down."
By the time the full MY WORLD album came out, Justin Bieber had already released half of the tunes on the CD, including "One Time," "Love Me," and "Favorite Girl" as singles. Though each of the previously released tracks had an appeal, the remaining tunes are the real stand-outs. Both "Bigger" and "One Less Lonely Girl" have distinctively cool beats that separate them from the young-pop pack, and "First Dance" benefits from guest vocals by Usher -- the uber-smooth R&B singer and Bieber's mentor.
