What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this program begins and ends with
explosions, with nothing very worthwhile in between. It's not
age-inappropriate, but there are far better things for your
kids to do with their time.
Families can talk about the difference between cartoon violence
found in older cartoons -- such as the original Looney Tunes
from the 1940s -- and what we see here. How have things changed
over the years? How have they remained the same?
In LOONATICS: UNLEASHED, Ace Bunny, Tech E. Coyote, Danger Duck, and friends are transformed into superheroes when a meteor hits the planet 700 years in the future. Now they spend their time making jokes while blasting monsters and asteroids with "neutron cannons" and whatever other weapons they have at hand.
Parents and kids who are familiar with the original Looney Tunes cartoons might be drawn to the characters who made them smile in the old shorts. Unfortunately, the jokes are no longer very funny and the characters have become little more than filler material. Whereas Bugs Bunny used to use his ingenuity to outwit his adversaries, Ace Bunny relies on his fists.
