What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this is a collection of lively and
clean pop dance tunes for preschoolers. The songs should be
familiar enough for the adults to get up and sing and dance
with their kids (which is probably why "We Are Family" is
included). Go wild and cut loose. It's a good way to share
music, especially before your kids get too old and start making
fun of your taste. Like the show, some of the CD is in
Spanish.
Families who listen to this CD can stage a dance party and practice the Spanish words they learn here.
Common Sense Media Review
DANCE FIESTA! is a fun way to get your resident
Dora the Explorer fan off the couch and on the living
room dance floor. While it lacks the obvious interactive and
educational qualities of the TV show, it
will get your kids dancing and singing. Like on the
show, there is some Spanish thrown in the mix on songs like
"Oye Como Va," (with Carlos Santana) and "La Bamba," (with Los
Lonely Boys). That's how big Dora has gotten. She makes a CD
and attracts two of the biggest and best names in Latin Rock
history.
Of course, because it's Dora the cartoon character, her high-pitched, always enthusiastic voice can get to be a bit much for parents. But this is for kids. If you can deal with one of Nick Jr.'s Dora marathons, then you can deal with this.
This CD would be fun to break the ice for a birthday party of 3-4-year-olds. Kids will automatically dance to this, as sure as they'd magnetically gravitate to cake and ice cream.
