What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this animated series follows a
simple formula: kids encounter problem, kids solve problem,
credits roll. It's a harmless program that kids seem to enjoy,
and adults might even get an occasional chuckle out of it.
Families can talk about the situations the characters get
themselves into. Do kids relate, or do the predicaments seem
outrageous and hilarious? What about this show appeals to young
kids?
In PB&J OTTER, the three Otter kids live on a houseboat with their parents on the shore of Lake Hoohaw, a town filled with other animal families -- where they always manage to find a predicament to solve. When Peanut (voiced by Adam Rose), Jelly (Brook Jenell Slack), and Baby Butter (Gina Marie Tortorici) get into a pickle, they perform "The Noodle Dance" until they figure out an answer. Their solutions are inventive enough, and their brainpower always saves the day.
The show's formula is basic and predictable, but the emphasis isn't so much on the fact that the kids always solve the problem as much as it is on how they solve the problem. The lively characters and the vivid color palette make this a harmless, entertaining show that most parents won't mind their kids watching occasionally.
