What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that, once again, John Williams teams
up with the London Symphony Orchestra to bring us a dramatic
and moving soundtrack for the "last"
Star Wars movie. If you're looking for a way to
introduce your kids to orchestral music, this could be it.
Families can talk about how the soundtrack brings the movie to
mind -- what scenes can you picture as each piece of music
plays? How does the music make the movie action more
dramatic?
John Williams conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in a lush and surprisingly moving musical accompaniment to the sixth Star Wars movie, STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH. The bonus DVD is a wonderful accompaniment to the soundtrack, telling the whole story (with some new footage included) from beginning to end, via musical themes. Some of the visuals might be a little scary for younger kids but there's very little dialogue to worry about -- and of course, no lyrics at all.
Exquisitely performed as usual, this soundtrack is more varied and fun than some of the others, with familiar melodic themes woven in among new compositions. High points "General Grievous" and "New Hope," for example, may even serve the purpose of sparking new interest in orchestral music.
