What Parents Should Know
The racing part of this game will bore younger kids who will
be more interested in designing cars and going off road than
they will be in going 16 laps to complete a race. Also, there's
a new intimidator feature that lets the player decide to be the
good guy or the bad guy. Finally, there are car crashes but no
blood, etc.
Common Sense Media Review
How you feel about this game correlates directly to what
your expectations are about it. If you expect "Gentleman, start
your engines", you will be disappointed. If you want to be able
to Chase for the Cup, you progress through a series of races to
do so, which takes some stick-to-it-iveness. This year, there's
off-road races that are fun and while they don't get you closer
to the Cup, they are diverting.
The speed and sounds and graphics are all good. Unlike earlier years, there is no longer a cockpit view, which will be disappointing to fans of earlier Nascar videogames. Handling the controls are tricky though, and it's easy to crash (which seems to be a big part of the entertainment). There is an intimidator and grudge feature that can be more annoying than unpleasant because it interrupts game play.
