What Parents Should Know
This 3-bundle title is worth purchasing not because it has a
new software title, but because it contains
Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys,
one of last year's most outstanding children's software
titles.
Common Sense Media Review
The software industry has long bundled older titles together
in a single package to offer consumers more bang for the buck.
This fall, some of the software giants are introducing bundles
that offer new content along with old. That is the situation
with
Disney Learning 1st & 2nd Grade.
For twenty dollars, consumers get Disney's The Jungle Book Learning, a new software title, plus the previously released Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys and Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade. Is this bundle worth it? Yes, because it contains Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys, one of last year's most outstanding children's software titles.
In Disney Learning Adventure: Search for the Secret Keys players explore learning activities with Mickey and his friends in a haunted house. This top-notch learning adventure for kids ages 5 to 8 includes mischievous ghosts, terrific tutoring, and adaptive and manual approaches to leveling.
Disney/Pixar's Buzz Lightyear 2nd Grade has some fun educational activities, but it is not a powerhouse.
The new Disney's The Jungle Book Learning offers a lot of content in math, reading, and science but it gets bogged down with slow transitions, too much talking, and activities that take too long to complete. The adventure is structured so that kids need to finish certain activities before others become available. And some of the activities require children to read, so this may not be an ideal program for beginning first graders who are just starting to read.
