What Parents Should Know
Nothing objectionable, but nothing too exciting here
either.
Perhaps you could capitalize on it by getting some nonfiction picture books on the Amazon rainforest.
Common Sense Media Review
No real danger ever gets too close, as the twosome stumbles
along, evading one creature after another. Annie, the animal
lover, here is terrified of all bugs, which surprises even
Jack. Snakes and crocs provide the standard elements of drama,
but fall short of any heightened excitement. The needed object,
through no effort of their own, falls into their lap as an
unwanted gift, which adds to mystery but detracts from the
magic.
From the Book:
"Balance the canoe," said Jack. Annie leaned to one
side. Jack reached--he missed! The canoe floated under more
branches. Jack reached for another thick vine. He grabbed it!
It was cold and scaly. It wiggled and jerked. "Ahhh!" Jack
screamed and fell back into the canoe. The vine was alive!
