What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that the soundtrack to the movie Twilight has some dark, creepy lyrics and music but isn't an overwhelming downer. Some of the songs address relationships, though lyrics tend to be more impressionistic than literal. Fans of the series will be particularly interested in the soundtrack, since Stephenie Meyer often discusses how music inspires her creations.

Families can talk about how Stephenie Meyer creates "soundtracks" for her novels. What do you think about this soundtrack compared with the playlist she posted for the novel? Do you think this album gives you a good idea of what to expect from the movie or not?

Teens who can't wait for their favorite vampire romance to hit the big screen can get a taste of what's to come in the TWILIGHT SOUNDTRACK. Featuring songs by Stephenie Meyer faves like Muse and Linkin Park, the soundtrack combines recent alt-rock album tracks with all-new songs, including two from Tennessee emo outfit Paramore. Twilight star Rob Pattinson also makes his musical debut here.

Edward and Bella's story is beautifully scored by this haunting, tension-filled soundtrack. Meyer had a hand in picking out the tracks, and they don't stray far from the novel's playlist. Although only one is a repeat (Collective Soul's "Tremble for My Beloved"), the mood is the same, encompassing emo angst, pop-punk rave-ups, and atmospheric ambient and folk. Blue Foundation's ghostly, ethereal "Eyes on Fire" is a standout, as is Pattinson's "Never Think," which has more in common with Eddie Vedder's work for Into the Wild than with Evanescence.

Entertainment often has lyrics and or scenes that require parental monitoring. Gee even London Musicals geared towards the young may require the attendance of a responsible role model or caregiver.

My sister and I love Twilight so much. That is the most interesting film that I have ever seen before.
