Game Review: Disney Think Fast
What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that while this trivia game is fun, it
is about all things Disney. Playing a round, even in the single
player mode, can take a half hour to play. It's closer to an
hour when four people play. Some of the film clips shown have
mild cartoon violence.
Families can talk about their favorite Disney characters. Why would Disney want to make this trivia game? Did you want to go back and watch Disney movies after playing this game?

If there's one thing all Americans love, it's trivia. While
there have been dozens of video game offerings that serve up
pop culture trivia, the idea of mixing Disney characters in as
contestants in a trivia game show format is inspired. Yes,
THINK FAST doesn't reinvent the wheel. In fact, it's format is
not so different from Sony's
Buzz!
series. But you'll really feel you're in a sort of
cartoon-based reality game show as you play.
The enjoyability of Think Fast has everything to do with the marketing brilliance that is Disney. If you don't relate to any of these funny animal legends of animation, then try another game. But here, as you pick up your Wii and flick it at the TV screen or press your D-pad to answer questions faster than your pals, you'll probably like Donald, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and the gang more than ever. The game is packed with 5,000 Disney-based and general trivia questions and the show is hosted by that big-voiced Genie from Aladdin , a Robin Williams sound-alike. But beware: each game can take as long as 60 minutes since there are 15 rounds -- especially if there are four players. But you can reduce the rounds to as few as five if you're under a time constraint.
To answer, it seems better to use the Wii remote's D-pad than to flick the Wii remote and press "A." The D-pad wasn't only quicker, flicking the remote didn't always work so well. While the Disney-based questions can become somewhat difficult, the general questions are usually easy enough for a six-year-old to answer. The best part of each game show is the round in which you watch a very quick clip from an animated movie and then answer queries based upon it. Essentially, if you recall the moments of action, you'll do quite well. And, if you win the game, you'll unlock a new cartoon character contestant.
Yet Think Fast is pricey at $50, especially when you can get the competitors' games at a better price. Also, you'll wish you can do more than simply chime in with the Wii remote. You've seen how creative the gamemakers have been with the device and you might ask yourself why you can't, for instance, draw something in a round to compete with your other contestants. Plus, there's no online functionality, something that should be expected in this kind of a competitive Disney Wii game in this day and age. Also, for young children, it can get frustrating when your wrong answer results in a negative score. Yet despite its flaws, you just have to keep coming back to play those classic characters. When Donald gets angry about losing a few questions in a row, it's downright hilarious to witness. But if this weren't full of Disney personalities, it would get three stars.
