What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this is a song from the movie
Another Cinderella Story which is due for a DVD release
in September. It's sung by the Disney Channel's
Wizards
of Waverly Place
star, and is about being taken seriously and living your
dreams -- even if with an air of stubbornness and childish wit.
It's a spunky single, but suitable for any age.
Families can talk about the popularity of teenage TV stars who also have music careers like Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Raven-Symone. Do you think these stars would be as successful without the backing of a big name like Disney? Do you think these stars have real, lasting talent, or is their success related to the media hype that surrounds them?
Common Sense Media Review
"TELL ME SOMETHING I DON'T KNOW," sung by Selena Gomez, is a
spunky single about living your dreams from the movie
soundtrack of
Another Cinderella Story starring The Disney Channel's
Gomez and Drew Seely. The movie will be released on DVD
September 16, and will also debut on ABC Family in late
2008.
This is a peppy pop-rock track, that starts with thumping drum beats and hand claps, then features the 16-year-old Gomez singing in her sweet but sassy voice "Everybody tells me that it's wrong what I'm feeling/I shouldn't believe it/the dreams that I'm dreaming." The chorus rants "Tell me, tell me, tell me something I don't know," infectious almost to the point of annoying, but sure to have you singing it the rest of the day. The message is fun and feisty, and proves Gomez is more than just a pretty face and Demi Lovato's BFF.
Fans may also like Miley Cyrus, Raven-Symone, or the Camp Rock Soundtrack .
