What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that in between the peppy, tween-friendly tunes on this album, there are some brief snippets of sometimes irreverent off-the-cuff comedic banter from the stars of the hit TV show iCarly that kids will get a kick out of -- even if parents don't get them. There are four new songs debuting from Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), but the rest are from various artists, some Nickelodeon sponsored ( The Naked Brothers Band), and some not ( Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne), although all the content is perfectly fine for tweens.

Families can talk about the Internet and how it relates more and more to TV. What are the pros and cons of having so much available on the Internet? Start a discussion with your tweens or teens about Web etiquette: What are the rules for sharing personal information, or uploading videos and pictures? Is it always safe? Also, have you or a friend ever been bullied?

ICARLY: MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY THE HIT TV SHOW is loaded with good music and some additional snarky cast dialog that fans have come to appreciate from the popular Nickelodeon show. Various multi-platinum selling artists like Natasha Bedingfield, Good Charlotte, and Avril Lavigne, among others, are on the album. There's a brand new, exclusive recording from fellow Nick-ites The Naked Brothers Band, as well as four new tracks debuting from the star of iCarly, Miranda Cosgrove, including the hit single "Leave It All to Me" the theme song from the series.

At the time of this review, iCarly was the "highest-rated program on all of TV in its time slot with kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14." No doubt, the series soundtrack will be a big hit as well. Not only does it feature some of the same off-the-cuff comedic banter from the stars of the series that kids will get a kick out of -- although parents may scratch their heads at ("Build-A-Bra" and "Blueberry Belly Button") -- but it hosts some cool music from a range of artists that anyone would enjoy. Cosgrove is making a name for herself musically, with tracks like "Stay My Baby," "About You Now," and the iCarly theme song "Leave It All to Me" (with Drake Bell) which are all upbeat, synth-pop mixes that showcase her vocal talent.

Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" remix with Lil Mama is already a hand-clappin', girl-shoutin' smash, along with the contagious reggae-flavor of Sean Kingston's hit "Beautiful Girls." Natasha Bedingfield's "Freckles" is a great pop/R&B anthem about loving yourself no matter what, and NBB fans will be happy to hear the exclusive track "Face in the Hall." iCarly devotees should be stoked for this soundtrack as they can take their fave show with them from the TV, to the Internet, and now to the iPod.
