What Parents Should Know
Parents need to know that this
American
Idol
winner delivers a decent first single about love and
getting out of it when the time is right. The lyrics and
message are tame -- if not lame -- and fine for all ages.
Families can talk about working hard to keep what you have.
American Idol gave Sparks her start, but it doesn't
guarantee her future. Kids, what does it take to do well on
your own, and does Sparks have enough talent and strength to
stand strong?
There's a reason why Jordin Sparks won the American Idol title: She's a talented singer with a lot of passion. Unfortunately, most of that passion is missing in TATTOO, the first single off her first album. The lyrics tell of love and longing, with words that are fine for any age.
The generic synthesized background beat and random yelping seem odd and out of place against Sparks' pleasant-enough voice, making the song just fall flat. And lyrics like "You're on my heart just like a tattoo/Just like a tattoo/I'll always have you" just add to the blah factor. Let's hope the rest of her album allows this songstress to live up to her potential.
