Book Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7)
My daughters tried their best to get me to read the Harry Potter series when it first came out years ago. I tried to start the first book, but I just couldn't get into it. Finally, when this last book came out, I wanted to try again since I was the only one in the world who didn't know who Voldemort was! Well, I started Book 1, couldn't put it down. I read the ENTIRE Harry Potter Series in 10 days. 10 Days. No one in my family got food to eat OR clean underwear that entire time because the series grabbed me by the throat and chained me to my chair. And afterward I walked around in a daze thinking about the books and how J.K. Rowling must have felt while writing them. I got involved with the characters, and while I was in their world, they were Real. Just a well written series. And I'm sorry it's over. I'll read the series again, but I'll take it a little slower this time!

I loved this book... As the series progressed it grew amazingly complex, and I wondered how Ms. Rowling could tie up all the loose ends in a satisfying way, but she did it superbly! I came to truly love these characters, mourned the deaths of many of them, and for that reason, hated to reach the end. Luckily books can be re-read. I thought the epilogue was a bit too sappy--catering to the fans--but oddly I could still accept it. Albus Severus was a nice touch. The really big question I ended up with, though, was regarding Lavender: she was bitten by Greyback, but we were left up in the air as to her fate. She was annoying as a character, especially regarding Won-Won, but ending up as a werewolf seemed a bit extreme. She did, after all, fight with the D.A.
Rowling has said she's through with fantasy literature, especially since she's never been a fan (that was a shock!), but I do look forward to reading what she writes next. Amazing talent.

The best book of the seven! My kids devoured it and they hate reading anything - except comics.

I won't give anything away, but what a great ending to fantastic series of books. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm glad it ended the way it did.

Great book. At times I did feel as though it plodded along a bit - especially while Harry and Hermione moved around; yet I saw it's necessity. I also was very pleased with the ending. That Harry understood and was willing to do for his friends what his mother did for him was admirable. The epiloge made everything "right in the world" for me. I spent the past several years hoping for exactly this type of ending - the death of You-Know_Who, a love and normal life for Harry that he NEVER had from the day Voldemort tried to kill him. I am at peace with the whole story as well as the ending.

I loved it a lot. I was making and seeing all these icons/avatars begging Jo not to kill Harry, and that if she killed Harry they would lock themselves in their room and never come out. (Yey i'm one of them!) Anyway I really loved how it was Ginny/Harry and Hermione/Ron. I think Draco was with Pansy, but dunno. I loved the epilouge the most I think. Although it was sad when Remus AND Tonks died. Poor Teddy, his Grandpa, Mum, and Dad died. Overall I really thought the book was good. I dunno what im gonna do without any more books to wait for!

I love all of the Harry Potter books, and I cannot wait to share them with my nieces and my daughter once they are older. These books have introduced and entire generation of children, teens, and young adults to the wonderful joys of reading! I absolutely loved DH and am in the process of reading it a second time already! The only thing that was a mild disappointment was the epilogue, but maybe JK wrote it the way she did so that her options are open for a spin-off or continuation!

Well, all good things must come to an end and so it's true for HP. I read the book in 2 days, although the start was a little slow. JKR tied all the pieces of the puzzle of Harry's life together and finally filled in the "gaps". I was disappointed in the epilogue. A bit too cliche for an author who is anything but obvious in her writing. Perhaps it should have ended at the ending and left the epilogue info for a new series of books down the road. That said, this dark, explosive and grim finale was gripping and drew me in, but I wouldn't recommend it for younger readers unless a parent reads it first.

I've read the complete series about three times now, and we own all the books on audio, as well, so we listen to them on road trips, and we own all the movies . . .the story of Harry Potter is an amazing one, and teaches my boys that the right thing to do is not always the easiest . . . what a great lesson to learn! I am, by far, one of the biggest HP fans in our small town. I love JK Rowling's ability to draw the reader in and actually enable them to "see" the story playing out in their mind. I can't say enough good things about this series . . . which is why the epilogue in HPandTDH was such an enormous let down! I would have done better having it left up to my imagination. After such a brilliant story, the look into the future didn't even read as if JK wrote it. It definately did not highlight her talent, and left me completely dissastisfied. I also feel that there are still many unanswered questions . . . maybe there will be a spin off series. One can only hope :)

There were a lot of things about the Harry Potter series that bothered me, especially why Harry wasn't more interested in finding out as much as he could about his family. It took him 7 years to finally want to know more. What took him so long? But to make these books I guess JKR had to do it this way, just never made sense. Glad the way it ended. Not too mushy.
