Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
IMAX is definitely the way to see this one. The fight at the end is perfect a 3-D movie.

We waited to see the 5th Harry Potter at an IMAX theater while on vacation. While the books are still so much better (because they go into more detail) than the movies my family loved it. My kids are 14 & 10. If you have an IMAX near you or if you find one on vacation, the last 20 minutes of the movie involve a fight scene where the screen is literally popping right out at you. I caught sight of my 10 year old out of the corner of my eye holding out her hand trying to touch the objects, it was THAT good. My kids can't wait for the next 2 movies!

here will come a time, years from now, when these movies will be remade more atuned to the book, by a director more a fan of the books than those working the set at present, and with scriptwriters who appreciate the characters and JK's writing more than those who are doing the work now also. hey will keep the lines intact, realizing that even minor threads have nuances that can not be cut in the tapestry that is woven along the 7 books. to delete a character from even one movie has implication that can make the whole thing unravel.
But that will take a Peter Jackson, and not the likes of who are at the reins now. as for the movie at present, I do appreciate the task of making the book into a big screen epic a very great ordeal, and they have done a great job, worthy of viewing, just not up to the class that J.K's writing certainly deserved. - KRH

In my opinion, the movies will never(other than the first one) be the books come to life. It's impossible, I know. Yet, I still leave the theater thinking that the movie was so far off. If you don't read the books, you have lost so much of the story by just watching the movies. However, I always see the movie in the theater at least twice and the second time I always love it. I just have to see it as a movie and not the book.
I have come to love the Order of the Phoenix! It did jump around alot and felt "odd" but the characters of Umbridge and Luna were played so well, and the duel scene between Voldy and Dumbledore was amazing! My boys, 8 and 10 really enjoyed it and said it wasn't as scarey as the Prisoner of Azkaban. I have enjoyed watching these actors grow up in front of us, they couldn't have picked better people to play these characters. I am looking forward to The Half-Blood Prince's release next year :)

This is the best HP movie. It really captures the main points of the book. I just finished rereading the book before watching the movie and loved the movie. The words in the script that were right from the book shared the key points. Alan Rickman,Ralph Fiennes,Imelda Staunton, Gary Oldman are wonderful.

I'm going to see the movie with my granddaughter and friend tomorrow. I'm a 61 year old grandmother and this will be my first Harry Potter. I'm excited. I'll let you know what a grammy thinks tomorrow..

As a die-hard Harry fan, I was a little disappointed. I don't think re-reading the book just weeks before seeing this installment helped, though. Some parts were truncated and combined (a given, since the book is 800+ pages). Still, even though this was the shortest of the Potter films, it felt the longest of them all. Cutting some things out made the flow of the film feel jumpy and off-kilter.
As for the darker tone, it's expected. Harry's older, he's seeing the Wizard World (and even Hogwarts), warts and all. ... Kids 8 and up shouldn't be too frightened or at least will know when they want to cover their eyes. Kids who've read (or had the books read to them) might be okay, too, since they know what to expect. It all depends on knowing your child, I'd say.

It was great. Not quite as amazing as numbers 3 and 4, but better than 1 and 2. The actress who played Professor Umbridge was deliciously evil, and almost more unnerving than Lord Voldemort.

Good to know it gets darker. I've never read this book yet, so I like knowing what to expect. We're hoping to see it this weekend.

I'm tired of movie series that are aimed at smaller kids that get scarier and scarier. My kids could watch the first movie, the second when we skipped a few scenes. But we can't even think about the other movies for years, and by then I'm not sure we will want to see them.
