More Info on Monsters Vs.Aliens

The Story: One minute, Susan is on her way to be married, and the next, she's being lassoed by Lilliputians in the middle of her own Gulliver's Travels story. Bonked by an asteroid, Susan is transformed from a petite bride into a towering, supernatural Attack of the 50-Foot Woman giant. Spurned by her finicky ex-fiancé and hidden away by the government, Susan finds home with a quartet of wackily odd monsters who adopt her as one of their own. When an alien ship threatens to invade earth, the President calls on Susan, who finds her unique size and newfound companions are just what she needs to take down the alien and save the world.

Good If You Liked: The Incredibles, Bolt, Kung Fu Panda

Heads Up: Overall, nothing. Ann-Marie and Jennifer (moms to Caroline and Victoria) agreed there wasn't anything inappropriate. Still, Monsters is an adventure movie, one with explosions, aliens threatening the earth, monster clones, and a near death. Language is limited to a smattering of potty humor and a few curse-word euphemisms such as "Flagnart" that kids are likely to want to use if they remember them. You'll all laugh at the wedgie -- you just won't want them to try and enact it.

DVD Special Features: The Ginormous Double DVD Pack version includes a brand-new 3-D movie, B.O.B.'s Big Break, and four sets of glasses. The feature attraction is not in 3-D, however, which may be disappointing to kids who saw it in the theater with the goofy glasses.

Own It? It's worth it if you get the B.O.B. bonus disc. Otherwise, you might want to wait for the inevitable version that will include the full film in 3-D.
