More Info on Bedtime Stories

The Story: Skeeter Bronson grew up as the pint-sized bellman in his dad's Sunny Vista Motel. Alas, dad wasn't a very good businessman, ultimately forced to sell out to mogul Barry Nottingham. But, the sale came with a caveat -- when Skeeter grows up, he gets to become general manager. Cut to three decades later and Skeeter's still waiting. The quaint motel is now a luxury high-rise, with Skeeter working odd jobs, and smarmy Kendall at the helm. Worse, Nottingham's planning a new hotel that will take over a local school and put Skeeter's sister out of her job as principal. But, while babysitting his niece and nephew, Skeeter discovers that the kooky stories he tells at night -- the ones "starring" Kendall, Barry, and company as the losers in Skeeter's elaborate triumphs -- are coming to life during the day, but only the parts of the tales created by the kids Patrick and Bobbi. Skeeter then sets out to win the General Manager job, all the while attempting to frame the stories to help him along.

Good If You Liked: Jumanji, Big Daddy, The Princess Bride

Heads Up: Bodily function humor is big on the Sandler list -- as such, there are references to burping, farting, wedgies, boogers, nose picking, people being slimed by boogers…if it's a bodily function, it's probably included. The stories are all wacky, but nothing scary. Characters from Skeeter's bedtime stories have monikers like "Buttkiss," names kids are sure to want to repeat. It's a love story, so there's a kiss, but even the littlest kids in the audience didn't seem to mind. Young Patrick gets a kiss from an older chick (age 12?), a girl he refers to as "hot!" By and large, though, the movie was pretty tame -- absolutely nothing you'll be embarrassed to watch with your kids.
