It can't be easy having an older sister so undeniably "Bootylicious." Then again, it was Beyonce, then a member of the R&B trio Destiny's Child, who gave kid sis Solange, five years her junior, a jumpstart in the business. After singing back-up one of the group's Christmas albums, Solange broke out on her own as both singer and songwriter -- debuting a high-profile solo album aptly titled Solo Star. Not surprisingly, the girls' parents have played a large part in their musical, acting and modeling careers, with father Matthew serving as their manager and mother Tina designing many of their costumes. Both sisters are involved in House of Deréon, the family clothing line, and were featured in a "Got Milk?" ad wearing its original fashions. Actively pursuing a feature film career after receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her starring role in Dreamgirls, Beyonce recently married her longtime boyfriend, rapper Jay-Z. A single mom, Solange has been promoting Baby Jamz, a hip-hop-inspired toy line for preschoolers.
Solange Knowles on personal questions: "I get asked about Beyonce all the time but I try and make fun of it. Sometimes I say she's not my sister. Other times I say I've stuffed her in my suitcase and sent it to Dubai."
