Venus Williams and Serena Williams
# 6 of 12:  Venus Williams and Serena Williams

Venus Williams and her younger sister Serena Williams share an awesome mastery of the sport of tennis that's made them both superstars. Having defeated both longtime top seeds and one other in any number of dramatic matches, both have earned the rank of World No. 1 -- breaking records, inspiring hopefuls and defying all odds. It was their father Richard who first dreamed of realizing his daughters' early athletic potential, despite the family's challenging circumstances. At the height of their dominance of the world tennis scene, older sister Yetunde Price was tragically murdered near the same Compton, California public tennis court where the girls had trained as children. At the ongoing Beijing Olympics, Venus and Serena are the seconded-seeded team in women's doubles. While both are known for their flamboyant personal styles, Venus has embarked upon the study of fashion design in pursuit of an associate's degree at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Equally comfortable in the spotlight, Serena once dated Hollywood director Brett Ratner and has been romantically linked to rapper Common.

Serena Williams on sibling rivalry: "Family's first, and that's what matters most. We realize that our love goes deeper than the tennis game."

Next: Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears
