Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen
# 4 of 12:  Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen

Sharing the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House at six months old, the twins were initially credited as one actress with a total of three first names. Continuing to fuse their images long after the show's eight-year run, the girls have aggressively marketed their brand to the rich pre-teen marketplace -- hawking the clothes, books, toys, fragrances, magazines, movies, and posters that ultimately made them two of the richest women in entertainment. While both enrolled in New York University after high school, Mary-Kate dropped out following a public break-up with Stavros Niarchos III, the Greek shipping heir who unceremoniously dumped her for Paris Hilton. Relocating to the West Coast, she guest-starred in the Showtime series Weeds, and was again caught in the glare of the media spotlight as a result of her friendship with the late actor Heath Ledger at the time of his death.

Mary-Kate Olsen on being a twin: "The way we go about business or designing or making a decision is that we come at it from two completely different angles that at the end of the day, even when we don't think we're agreeing with each other, we are agreeing."
