The Story: Geologist Trevor Anderson is obsessed with solving the disappearance of his brother, Max, a scientist who set out three years ago to prove his theories about volcanic activity, and who hasn't been seen since. With Max's son, Sean, in tow, Anderson jets off on an impulsive trip to Iceland, where he finds a reluctant guide and an eventful trip to Jules Verne's prehistoric "world within the world."
Heads Up: Not much. The adventure's so clean, one wonders what the PG is for. There's not one moment you'll mind sharing with the kids. Action scenes might be a little intense for young dispositions (under age 6), but nothing even close to your average video game (although small children do have a tendency to be especially frightened by monsters of the fanciful variety). The word "shist" is a comic euphemism for another word, but expect the kids to get the joke -- and repeat it often. Two monsters -- the killer plants and fanged fish -- are particularly ugly. The de rigeur kiss at the end is harmless -- unless you're under the age of 10, in which case, it's just icky.
