Our Favorite Film Bunnies

Around this time of year, the Easter Bunny gets all the attention. So why not give the basket-bearing one some competition by introducing your kids to some of the most likeable bunnies of the silver screen? Here are five famous bunnies that make our whiskers twitch, plus one feathered friend we couldn't leave out.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)

Who would want to frame Roger? One of the most entertaining animated rabbits in film history holds his own against mucho talented live-action stars like Bob Hoskins and Christopher Lloyd. This clever film offers plenty of gags kids will love and top-notch storytelling for parents to enjoy.

Space Jam (1996)

Call it the hopster meets the hoopster: Bugs Bunny, maybe the most famous rabbit of them all, stars in this flick alongside Michael Jordan (the most famous basketball player of them all). The rest of the Looney Toons gang gets in on the action, too, as they try to win their freedom from a group of aliens via a high-stakes basketball game.

Harvey (1950)

Sure, you can't actually see Harvey, the constant long-eared (and allegedly 6-foot-tall) companion of Elwood P. Dowd (Jimmy Stewart). Still, you fall in love with the invisible creature all the same. Based on a Pulitzer-winning stage play, this comedy of errors offers more than just laughs — it's an excellent look at love, family, and finding magic in the everyday.

The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005)

Who said bunnies had to be cuddly? In this animated tale, a giant were-rabbit is loose in town — with the annual vegetable contest close at hand. It's probably not one to show to anyone who already suffers from leporiphobia (fear of rabbits.) Still, the film is far more comic than it is frightening, perfect for youngsters.

Bambi (1942)

Fine, so Bambi the deer is the main attraction in this Disney flick but many of the movie's delights come from Thumper, Bambi's long-eared sidekick. Though Thumper and his parents weren't in the original book by Felix Salten, Walt Disney thought them necessary for comic relief.

A "Chick" Flick to Add to Your List: "Chicken Little" (2006)

In this reimagining of the classic fable, Chicken Little (Zach Braff) is a misfit who's not a natural athlete and frequently caught in embarassing situations. But he's darn adorable, and the endearing center of a film that replaces the sky simply falling with an all-out alien invasion.
