11 Great Kids' Books that Made Great Movies
I agree with most of this list -- the movies that I've seen, anyway. Now I want to find the ones I've missed and watch them. The stories change a bit sometimes to accommodate the big screen, but there's something magical about seeing beloved stories come to "life." Personally, I'm ridiculously excited about "Where the Wild Things Are."

I can agree with some on the list (like "Mary Poppins" and or "The Wizard of Oz") but I certainly can not agree with things like "Shrek" or "Harry Potter" as much. We try to find a balance of newer works with older books - things cast of by public librarys at book sales or old school readers from when my Mother was in school (or even my Grandmothers) so that there is an understanding of fiction in today's terms and fiction that someone like Mr. Walt Disney would have been working with (and in a context to the times it was created or written). Yes, "Pollyanna" and other works can still find a good spot to sit on the shelf but they should also be read too.
