In January, the Transformers take over the small screen in animated form, tween supergroup The Naked Brothers Band returns with more mockumentary madness, and a trio of clever high schoolers discover a way to time travel and avoid awkward social mishaps.

"Transformers Animated" Series Premiere

Debuts 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT), Saturday, Jan. 5, Cartoon Network
Set in near-future Detroit, this new series (based on the popular 1980s toys) begins when the alien Tranformers are thrust into a world populated by humans and automatons. The debut episode, titled "Home is Where the AllSpark Is," finds Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Prowl, Bulkhead, and Ratchet at work in the human world and getting guidance from Sari, a spunky 8-year-old girl, while trying to keep an army of ruthless Decepticons from causing harm on Earth.

"Kids Pick the President: The Kids' Primary"

Debuts 9 p.m. (ET/PT), Sunday, January 13, Nickelodeon
The popular kids' network plans youth-centric election-year programming with its "Kids Pick The President" campaign. Launching with this special, Nick's campaign will invite kids to participate in their own primary election, and let them cast votes for the next U.S. President online. Kids have predicted the next President for four out of the last five national elections. The special is produced through the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning "Nick News with Linda Ellerbee." Kids can vote Jan. 13 to 18 at nick.com/kpp/. Don't miss the results, to be announced 8 p.m. (ET/PT) Friday, Jan. 18

"Backyardigans: Tale of the Mighty Knights" TV Movie

Debuts 7 p.m. (ET/PT), Monday, Jan. 14, Nick Jr.
In this hour-long prime-time TV movie, kids can rock out with the Backyardigans as they take a magical and musical journey to capture a runaway egg. Adam Pascal, Tony-nominated star of the original Broadway casts of "Rent" and "Aida," narrates the episdoe and — as the voice of Dragon — performs the rock opera ballad, "Not an Egg Anymore"

"The Naked Brothers Band" Season 2 Premiere

Debuts 8 p.m. (ET/PT), Monday, Jan. 21, Nickelodeon

The mockumentary series returns to TEENick for its second season with a special one-hour premiere. Following brothers Nat and Alex Wolff as they prepare for this first national tour, the season opener has the duo performing at the Amigos' Middle School's end-of-school dance. The episode, titled "Sidekicks," is a great kick-off to a season that promises 14 new original songs and guest stars including comedian George Lopez, Grammy winner Phil Collins, and Good Charlotte's Joel Madden.

"Minutemen"

Debuts 8 p.m. (ET/PT) Jan. 25, Disney Channel
Jason Dolley ("Cory in the House") and Steven R. McQueen, grandson of screen legend Steve McQueen, star in this new Disney Channel original move about three high school outcasts who invent a machine to go back in time and prevent other misfits from enduring humiliating situations. Soon, they're on the run from government officials who think the boys have hacked into secret files. The flick features a new song, "Run It Back Again," from "High School Musical" star Corbin Bleu.
