For little ones I recommend Zachary Goes Treasure Hunting. It is about a young boy and his many adventures during his summer vacation.

I recommend "To Kill a Mockingbird" to everybody. It's one of, if not the, best American novel ever written. Ever.

I loved Island of the Blue Dolphins too! In some ways, that isalnd seems like the ideal place to spend a summer.
