The Eco-Ark Project
Green living tip by: Eco-Ark Kurtistown, HI Category: In the CommunityThe Great Green Challenge
Here's My Great Green Idea!
We are building an Eco-ark (botanical species preserve) on Hawaii. Our multiple purposes include raising awareness of, and encouraging others to start similar projects in their own area, sharing ideas and methodologies for accomplishing these goals, spreading ideas concerning sustainable, Eco-friendly technologies. Spreading knowledge of organic permaculture techniques, to encourage the building of community gardens and the growing of food in publicly accessible places (Green Ribbon Project).
Eco-arks are bio-diverse botanical preserves dedicated to the continuation of useful (food, medicine, fiber) and threatened species of plant life. They provide open space for wildlife and sustainable and renewable resources for humans. They can be created in a variety of climatic conditions where natural weather patterns and water sources are optimal for their species.
