The Great Green Challenge
Here's My Great Green Idea!
Last holiday season, my 9 year old daughter, Jessica, wanted to start a program to save the environment and make a difference in her own community. Together, we came up with the idea to recycle strains of old holiday lights. We placed about 5 collection boxes in our community for 3 different charities. It turned out to be an incredible, overflowing, sucess. We took the old lights down to the local metal recycling company to be recycled for the copper. As a family, we have recycled over 2,400 pounds of Christmas lights and raised over $2,450.00 for charity. This was such an incredible success that we put together a website, www.holidaylightsrecycling.com, and are looking forward to raising even more money for charity next season.
