The Great Green Challenge
Here's My Great Green Idea!
As a mother of four, I am always on the lookout for toys and crafts that spark creativity and are eco friendly. As a creative person, I felt compelled to be resourceful and use my god-given gifts to help the environment, creatively entertain kids, and contribute financially to my family.
I designed Kidzsack, a line of 100% recycled fabric backsacks, and launched this eco-friendly line in October 2007. With Kidzsacks kids can have fun while doing the earth a favor! Kidzsacks come in different screenprinted designs and have an inside pocket that hold 8 washable markers. Kids color, mom washes out, and kids recolor again and again. The fabric content is 80% cotton/20% polyester. The cotton portion is made from leftover cotton scraps that would have gone into a landfill and made into new yarn. The polyester portion is made from recycled soda bottles.
I am making a major contribution to my community because I am keeping jobs local and producing an environmentally friendly product! Kidzsacks are manufactured and screenprinted at family owned businesses in Georgetown and Merrimac, MA. Both are neighboring towns to my own town of West Newbury, pop. 4,500.
