Here's My Great Green Idea!
Title: MOTHER EARTH GREEN AND CLEAN IN KINGS MOUNTAIN: Kings Mountain Intermediate School 5th grade students, under the guidance of teacher, Ms. Stewart, will draw posters (8 1/2 x 11") with captions focusing on
keeping the earth clean and green. These posters will be xeroxed by the teacher to be used as flyers for the community. They will be posted in visible locations around the community such as local libraries, post-offices, restaurants, gas stations, and wherever allowed. Their original posters will be taken to churches, places of activities to be put up as well as posted around the school. Our classroom 5th grade newspaper correspondent, Mary, will write an article for the local paper explaining our mission (Awareness: Keeping Earth Green and Clean) and take a picture of students with posters for the newspaper as well. Our goal is to make our community aware of simple things they can do to help "Mother Earth" and to challenge them to do so. The North Carolina Standard Course of Study Objectives 1.06, 1.07, and 2.07 will be used to continually educate students during the duration of this project. The success of this challenge will be measured by the data students collect from their immediate family and improved environmental awareness in the form of recycling, carpooling, water conservation to planting of trees. Students will be required to keep a log and to report back to the project teacher. The involvement of students in this project will encourage them to continue to keep earth green and clean which will be an ongoing, life-long affect to a healthier earth.
