The Great Green Challenge

Here's My Great Green Idea!

Directly, I am attempting to solve the trash crisis in my school and community. Indirectly, on a grander scale through hard work, I am trying to save the planet. I want to make sure there IS someplace to work in the future. That we will all still be able to go outside to play. That we have nice clean air and water.
I have studied a lot of facts I have found about how little is being done to control our resources and the ever-mounting world trash crisis.
It is worrisome to me that my school campus is littered with paper trash, plastic bottles and aluminum cans. It is not good to see our streets littered with trash and recyclables either.
It's time to take action.
I recognize the problem I don't have to think "What can I do?". I know what has to be done to solve the problem and I know how to do it. I am your man. I have enthusiasm. I have incredible energy. It might sound unusual but I have the ability to get people excited about trash.
I have already won a competition for the top entrepreneur at my school which was based on my business plan and presentation.
The name of my business is The Green King. I want to make a difference. I want to know that what I do will make life better for me and not just with the money I make. I can always make money. I could make money doing most anything. But, what if I could make money, make life better and do something with meaning?
That is why I started my recycling business. At first, I didn't know what would happen. How can you get people excited about trash? But, I have already gotten the students, the faculty and staff of my school excited about this project.
So, I jumped in! I got this thing started. I can't say it is a job. It is more like a cause. When I ask for help with my cause, when I explain the path we are on, it is hard for anyone to say "no." How can you say no to your future? How can you say no to a kid trying to save the planet?
At my school we have business day every Friday. But, what is great about this is I am not selling a product. I'm selling a way of life. I have found a way to get my message out and make it fun for the kids. I give them prizes for every 25 bottle or cans they bring me. I find the kids are bring me their bottles and cans any day not just Friday.
So far, I have managed to get the prizes donated. I asked each teacher to give me 10 "Free Homework Passes". Also, I went around to local shops like Ralphs,Vons and Skateland and asked them to donate 5 gift cards for $5.00 each.
I decided to branch out into the community. I have stopped at the neighbors and businesses wherever we go, I ask them to save recyclables for me.
The goal of this business is
to attempt to educate the students,
faculty and anyone else who will listen
on the importance of the need to put
these products back into use. And, to
actually do it!
I will request as
much help as I can from local businesses in the community
