The Great Green Challenge

Here's My Great Green Idea!

My kids and I LOVE crafts, and in an effort to do our part, we started reusing as many containers as we could in our craft projects. We make pencil holders, plant flowers in milk jugs and even use the containers to hold our craft supplies.

We recently took our recycling a step further though. Our local children's museum relies on donations, and one of the things they need is the tops to plastic containers and milk jugs. The museum has an area where kids use tools to build things with wood, and kids use the plastic tops in their projects. I was already removing the tops when I recycled my containers, so now I wash and dry the tops and put them in a bag that I stuck on the door in my laundry room. Whenever we go to the museum we make sure to bring any clean container tops we have. Our children's zoo is always looking for recycled donations for their craft area, so this year We are going to start collecting items to them too. It's hard for one family to reuse everything that can be recycled, so sharing it just makes sense.
