The Great Green Challenge
Here's My Great Green Idea!
I am a sales rep for a nationally recognized paint company. I call on a number of commercial contractors that do work in the Washington DC area. Part of my job is to recommend paint coating systems and submit them to architects for approval on upcoming projects. With the green initiative firmly entrenched, and seeing the future of the paint world as bright for those who will change, I have taken it as a challenge to learn as much as I can about the products my company offers and submitted them every change I get. A lot of people think that paint is just paint, but in the world we live in, paint is anything but just paint. I have submitted acrylic coating systems, where I used to submit alkyd systems. These Low VOC products are better for the enviroment, and are indiciative of things to come.
Part of my job is also educating the people I work with, but my customers, and their customers. It would be hard to put a number on how many times I have heard an end user say they want a "Green Paint System" or a LEEDS approved system, but they really are unsure of what that means.
This is the challenge for all of us, at home, or at work. What are we currently using that can be switched for a green product, and every opportunity I get to do this, I do.
