The Power of Recycling (Power)

Here's My Great Green Idea!
In the field of educational technology, we're always moving onto the next big thing. With new advances, it seems everything is portable and battery operated. As much as we try to move to rechargeable batteries, it seemed like we were always throwing batteries into the trash.
Every time I'd toss a battery away, I wished there was a better option.
Enter our new battery recycling program! Batteries, large and small, are no longer carelessly thrown away. I've contacted a local battery store that was willing to accept our old batteries for recycling and proper disposal - at NO cost!
Americans throw out nearly 180,000 tons of batteries each year. Although batteries provide so much function to our daily lives, they do contain toxic heavy metals. If not disposed of properly, batteries can pollute lakes and streams and pose environmental and health hazards.
I urge you to make the switch to rechargeable batteries whenever possible. I also urge you to contact your local battery or hardware store and ask about battery recycling. It is a cinch to responsibly dispose of your old batteries!
