Here's My Great Green Idea!
I have been working at my company for nearly 10 years. We do not have an official recycling program. However, I heard a commercial one day that talked about a local fire station recycling cans and the proceeds went to the burn victims in our community. I immediately contacted my company and asked if I brought in a trashcan to keep in the kitchen and was willing to drop the aluminum cans off once a week could our company participate in this great cause? This was approved. As I began collecting the aluminum cans, it occurred to me that it would be just as easy to collect the plastic water bottles as well. The cans are taken to the fire station and the plastic bottles are taken to the recycling center. In addition, we have someone come in to the office to shred paper for us. We had just been throwing these bags of shredded paper away. I again asked if I were willing to make the trips would they allow me to take the shredded paper to the recycling center. I have now been doing this for over a year. We all can do something, every little bit helps!!
